My son is in 4th grade and had never been interested in anything, but when he started the science program he became absolutely thrilled. He is retaining ideas and can’t wait to go to school every morning.![]()
Sangari is a mission-driven company that believes quality, investigation-centered science education is the key to sustained prosperity. For more than 40 years, we have successfully provided high-quality science and engineering materials to universities in 16 countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Egypt, England, Greece, Pakistan, Portugal, Romania, South Africa, and Spain.
We have now turned our focus to elementary and middle school science education in the United States. We have invested more than $50 million over the past 10 years to develop a world-class curriculum and teacher support system that is serving more than 500,000 students from Brasilia to Buenos Aires. With the help of strong leadership and a distinguished advisory board, our program already is being launched in districts across the U.S.
The world that awaits American 1st graders undoubtedly will be very different than it is today. We don’t know how society will change by the time they graduate. But there’s no question that technology and science will fundamentally shape their future.
We believe that the time to embrace the inevitable is now. Waiting until younger students get to high school to address serious science instruction is too late. If we haven’t engaged students at an early age, by the time they become teenagers too many of them will have tuned out, having decided:
“I’m no good at science. It doesn’t matter.”
Scores on the National Assessment of Educational Progress underscore the challenge. Only 29 percent of American 4th and 8th graders and 18 percent of 12th graders are at or above proficient in science. These dismal scores tell only part of the story. Equally discouraging, a traditional instructional approach that relies on 500-page textbooks and 50-minute teacher lectures has failed to inspire generations of students. They deserve better.
Our program is designed to transform these realities and, in the process, help prepare American students for the wondrous new age of science and technology that awaits them.
